Celebrated Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang, disclosed that the lowest salary he has received as an actor was GH₵4,000 in 2018. In an interview on 3FM Lounge on Monday, July 8, he shared that he accepted the role not for the money but because he “believed in the content” of the film.
According to him, that same movie earned him his first Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) best actor award.
“I’m talking of 2018. No, I’m not joking. You see, it was one that I had believed in the content and that brought me my first AMVCA best actor award,” he told AJ Sarpong.
The revered actor also provided insights on how to successfully produce movies that entice the Ghanaian audience. Adjetey Anang lamented some challenges he has faced in the movie industry and how he dealt with them, stressing that he has featured in movies with very low budgets but had good content.
“Well, lack of character development is an issue, but because of my experience, I’m able to hold it. It’s an issue, but there’s always a way out. More so, the text, when you realize there has not been more research, because whatever we put out there is going to have implications on the audience,” he added.
