Paramount Chief of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu, has decreed that Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor is banned from entering all palaces within the Gonja kingdom. This decision was made in response to what the Yagbonwura described as breaches of tradition and respect.

The traditional leaders in West Gonja accused the minister of interfering in local traditional matters, leading to widespread discontent and disaffection among the people. According to them, Jinapor’s involvement in issues meant to be resolved within traditional frameworks has caused significant disruptions.

During a press conference, the Yagbonwura’s interpreters highlighted the seriousness of the decree and warned that any chief who grants Jinapor entry into their palace would face severe consequences.

“The king will not grant audience to any government delegation, political party, or individual who includes Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor in their visit until he learns the traditions as a royal and respects the authority of the Yagbonwura. This statement is final and binding on all paramount chiefs within the Gonja kingdom,” they stated.

Chiefs and local leaders are expected to strictly adhere to this decree to maintain the Yagbonwura’s authority.

Some angry youth expressed their support for the decree with placards reading, “Abu Jinapor, enough of your selfishness and arrogance,” and “No more undermining of traditional authority,” among other messages.
