Parliament will commence the fifth meeting of its fourth session today, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre. This temporary relocation is due to ongoing renovations in the main parliamentary chamber, traditionally used for sittings.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, announced the venue change on September 30, 2024. This session represents a significant point in the legislative calendar, with members expected to tackle urgent national issues.

After a brief recess, MPs are reconvening to address key legislative priorities. This fifth meeting is expected to focus on a number of bills and agreements that will shape Ghana’s development agenda.

During a recent emergency two-day session at the Dome, Parliament approved a $250 million World Bank loan agreement to support Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme. Initially rejected, the loan was later deemed crucial for revitalizing the energy sector and supporting economic recovery.

This emergency session on September 3 emphasized the importance of securing critical financial support for national initiatives, highlighting Parliament’s role in driving Ghana’s development efforts.
