In its latest update, the Ghana Health Service disclosed that 22 new Mpox cases have been recorded, pushing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 735. The new cases were detected in various regions, prompting renewed surveillance and health alerts.
Health authorities remind the public that Mpox symptoms include fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and fatigue. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should immediately report to the nearest health facility for testing and treatment.
Ghana first confirmed Mpox cases in 2022. Since then, the disease has resurfaced periodically in several regions, often linked to lapses in hygiene and close contact with infected individuals. The GHS continues to collaborate with regional health directorates to enhance early detection and public education.
The increase in cases highlights the need for continued public vigilance and government support for health infrastructure. Experts warn that delayed reporting or self-medication could worsen community transmission.
