The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Saboba, Hon. George Wumbei, has officially handed over 27 new motorbikes to the Saboba District Health Directorate to enhance healthcare delivery across the district’s Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds.

The motorbikes, donated by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), are expected to improve mobility for healthcare workers, especially in hard-to-reach rural areas.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Hon. Wumbei described the gesture as a “true blessing” that will make it easier for health personnel to respond swiftly to emergencies and deliver essential services to every community.

“These motorbikes will make it easier for health workers to reach remote communities, respond swiftly to emergencies, and ensure no one is left behind in accessing essential healthcare,”
he wrote.

Hon. Wumbei extended his gratitude to UNOPS for their generous contribution, emphasizing that the initiative aligns with global efforts to strengthen healthcare accessibility in underserved areas.

“This gesture reinforces the global commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in rural areas like Saboba. On behalf of our people, I extend heartfelt appreciation to UNOPS for this timely support,”
he stated.

He also commended health officers in Saboba for their dedication and service despite the challenges of limited infrastructure and difficult terrain.

Hon. Wumbei reaffirmed the district’s commitment to strengthening local healthcare systems, adding that collaboration between stakeholders remains crucial in ensuring quality healthcare for all residents.

“Let’s keep working together to strengthen our healthcare system — one step, one ride, one life at a time,”
he concluded.

The Saboba District Health Director expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the motorbikes will significantly enhance outreach and community-based healthcare delivery.

The donation represents a major milestone in rural healthcare logistics, helping to close the gap between remote communities and medical facilities while improving emergency response times and maternal health outcomes.
