A delegation from Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure (The Gambia) has expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana following a successful study tour of the country’s transport sector.
The team, currently on an official visit to Ghana, met with the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to thank him and his ministry for the support and cooperation extended during their engagements with key regulatory institutions.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Technical), Ebrima Colley, commended Ghana for the warm reception and valuable knowledge shared throughout the visit.
He noted that the delegation gained significant insights from institutions including the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, National Road Safety Authority, Metro Mass Transit Limited, and Intercity STC Coaches Limited.

According to Mr. Colley, the engagements provided practical lessons that could help strengthen transport regulation and operations in The Gambia.
In response, Minister Nikpe highlighted the importance of collaboration among African nations in improving governance and enhancing transport systems across the continent.
He referenced his own study visit to Rwanda, where he explored strategies for commercialising motorcycle transport in Ghana, emphasizing the value of knowledge exchange among countries.
On behalf of the Ministry of Transport (Ghana) and the Government of Ghana, the minister reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting other African nations seeking to learn from its experiences in the transport sector.

The Gambian delegation’s visit forms part of broader efforts to enhance cooperation between African countries and strengthen transport systems through shared expertise and institutional learning.
