Ghanaian actor Agya Koo made headlines at a funeral when he abruptly ended his live band performance after a mourner voiced support for former President John Mahama. The interruption was unexpected, given Agya Koo’s known affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), suggesting a potential political motive behind the outburst.

Agya Koo, visibly frustrated, paused his performance to address the issue. He urged that political differences should not overshadow the purpose of the funeral and noted that some of his band members support the National Democratic Congress (NDC), yet they collaborate smoothly.

“You don’t support John Mahama more than I do,” Agya Koo stated, emphasizing his personal rapport with Mahama, who often invites him for discussions despite their differing political views.

He also underscored his political neutrality, claiming that regardless of the ruling party, he remains connected with the government. “Whether Nana Addo or Mahama is in power, I stay close to the government,” he asserted.

After the brief disruption, other attendees managed to restore order, allowing Agya Koo to resume his performance and refocus on the solemnity of the event.
