A devastating fire in Assin Fosu Old Education Road has destroyed properties worth several thousands of cedis. The blaze ravaged eight shops, including the well-known Success Pub, causing extensive damage.
Firefighters from the Assin Fosu Fire Station battled the intense flames for nearly two hours before bringing the situation under control. The affected shops included a printing press, a restaurant, a pub, and a dressmaking shop.
Among the destroyed items were printing equipment, sound systems, sewing machines, clothes, fridges, drinks, and other goods, all valued in the thousands of Ghana cedis. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, a gas cylinder and fire extinguisher were found among the charred debris.
Eyewitnesses shared their accounts of how the fire started with Adom News.
Assin Fosu Municipal Fire Officer, ADO III Paul Tawia, highlighted the challenges faced due to the absence of a fire hydrant in the affected area, which hampered firefighting efforts. He urged the Ghana Water Company and the Assin Fosu Municipal Assembly to install fire hydrants at strategic points in Assin Fosu to better handle such emergencies in the future.
