Adamorobe Residents Protest Neglected Roads, Threaten to Boycott Elections

Residents of Adamorobe in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern Region have taken to the streets to protest the deplorable state of their roads. Expressing frustration over years of neglect and inaction from authorities, they highlighted how the deteriorating road conditions disrupt their daily lives and livelihoods.

In an interview with Citi News, locals emphasized the severity of the situation and their determination to see change. Chanting “No road, no votes,” they vowed to boycott future elections if their demands for road repairs are not met.

“We are committed to our demand for road repairs. The red bands you see signify that we are preparing for a major demonstration if no action is taken. If the government does not act soon and brings the ballot boxes, we will not participate in the voting process,” stated one resident.

Another resident shared their lifelong experience of poor road conditions, noting the high transportation costs despite efforts from local drivers to help. “We cannot remain silent about the poor road conditions. In my entire lifetime, I have never seen any improvement on these roads. Although drivers in the area try to help, transportation costs are high. We are pleading with the government to fix our roads. Adamorobe is an NPP stronghold—why have we been neglected?”.
