WAEC Releases 2025 BECE Timetable; Exams Begin June 10

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Ghana, has officially released the timetable for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The nationwide exams are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 10, 2025, and conclude on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

According to WAEC, candidates will commence the exams with Social Studies and Computing on the opening day. Each subject will have Papers 1 and 2 written consecutively, with no breaks in between.

WAEC earlier announced that a total of 603,328 candidates have registered for the 2025 BECE. This includes 297,250 males and 306,078 females, drawn from 20,395 schools across the country.

candidates will write their exams at 14 designated centres, primarily located in regional capitals.

The exams will take place at 2,237 centres nationwide.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured stakeholders that all logistics and arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and credible examination process. The Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Davies, reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the conduct of the exams.
