The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who last featured for Ghana in 2023, told iDiski Times that his primary focus is on maintaining strong performances at club level.

“I’m working hard and focusing on my team at the moment. That’s what you need to do if you want to be there [at the World Cup],”
Ofori said.

Currently with AmaZulu FC in South Africa, Ofori believes consistent form in the Premier Soccer League will boost his chances of a national team comeback.

Ofori revealed he hasn’t spoken to Black Stars head coach Otto Addo recently but emphasized that there are no issues between them.

“Recently, no. I haven’t spoken to the coach. But before, he used to call and check up on his players. He’s a good man. He hasn’t abandoned anyone; he just focuses more on those who are actively playing, especially since the qualifiers were so intense,”
Ofori explained.

Richard Ofori has long been one of Ghana’s most reliable goalkeepers, and his potential return could strengthen Ghana’s depth ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America. His experience and leadership remain valuable assets for the Black Stars setup.
