Electoral Commission Commends NDC's Role in Re-exhibiting Voters Register for 2024 Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has praised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for advocating the re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register in preparation for the 2024 general elections. This move, the EC noted, aims to address potential discrepancies and enhance the accuracy of the voters’ roll.
At an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on October 15, 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa recognized the NDC’s efforts, describing their recommendation as a meaningful contribution to fostering transparency and trust in the electoral process. She emphasized the value of constructive feedback from political parties and highlighted that the NDC’s input was instrumental in the Commission’s decision to undertake this unprecedented re-exhibition of the voters register.
Mensa commended the NDC for their proactive role in strengthening the electoral system, noting that the Commission is dedicated to working with all political stakeholders to ensure a credible election in 2024. She underscored that this re-exhibition would help secure the integrity of the voter registration process.
“This is the first time we are re-exhibiting the Provisional Voters Register, and it shows that the Commission is open to feedback from its stakeholders,” Mensa remarked. “We appreciate the NDC for this idea, which aligns with our commitment to transparency and partnership with all involved parties.”
The EC Chairperson concluded by expressing confidence in this collaborative approach, anticipating that it would contribute to producing a near-perfect final voters register ahead of the 2024 December elections.
