Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has expressed his pride and satisfaction with the team’s outstanding performance following their emphatic 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic (CAR) on Wednesday evening.
The result moves Ghana closer to securing a spot at next year’s FIFA World Cup, with the Black Stars now sitting comfortably at the top of Group I, three points ahead of second-placed Madagascar.
Ghana took control of the match early on through Mohammed Salisu’s first-half opener before running riot in the second half, adding four more goals to complete a dominant display.
Appiah, who was present at the stadium to witness the victory, admitted that while he expected a win, the margin of the result exceeded his expectations.
“I am so happy. The players have made us proud, and we are looking forward to Sunday,” he told Joy Sports.
“We are here because of the players — they have truly made us proud. From what I saw in the two training sessions before the game, I knew we would win, but I wasn’t expecting 5–0.”
With one final group match remaining, the Black Stars are in pole position to book their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Appiah’s comments reflect the renewed optimism and unity within the national team camp as Ghana aims to return to the global stage after missing out on recent tournaments.
