Under head coach Otto Addo, Ghana’s latest jump in the FIFA standings comes after an impressive October 2025 international window.

The Black Stars recorded a 5-0 victory over Madagascar in Morocco and followed it up with a 1-0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, securing top spot in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

This positive run extended Ghana’s unbeaten streak and solidified their position as one of the continent’s improving sides.

While Ghana’s global ranking improved from 75th to 73rd, their continental position remains unchanged at 14th in Africa, trailing teams like Morocco, Senegal, and Nigeria.

Addo has expressed optimism about improving further as the team prepares for upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea next month.

“We’re building momentum. The ranking reflects our progress, but there’s more work to do,”
Addo reportedly told team media staff after the latest ranking release.

The team’s focus now shifts to maintaining consistency and building cohesion as qualification intensifies. The friendlies will serve as an opportunity to test new players and strategies before the next World Cup qualifying window.

The ranking improvement reflects Ghana’s gradual return to form after an inconsistent start to the qualification campaign. A higher FIFA ranking not only boosts team morale but can also improve seeding in future competitions.
