A concerned member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Buem-Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region has petitioned the party’s national leadership to establish an independent committee to reassess the vetting process for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position.

The petitioner, Aaron Aniewu, has raised concerns about transparency and fairness, citing perceived irregularities in the selection process.

Speaking to Adom News in Baglo, a community within the Jasikan Municipality, he emphasized the need for a credible and inclusive vetting process to prevent internal divisions that could impact the party’s unity and electoral success.

Mr. Aniewu specifically highlighted a potential conflict of interest involving one of the shortlisted nominees, Parke-Davis Magyigbe. He pointed out that Magyigbe is not only the father of the Regional Minister but also serves as an assistant to Buem MP, Kofi Iddie Adams.

According to Aniewu, the Regional Minister, Gyapong Kudjo, openly endorsed Magyigbe during the vetting, raising concerns about bias in the process.

To ensure fairness and maintain party cohesion, Mr. Aniewu is urging the NDC leadership to conduct an independent review of the selection process to guarantee neutrality in appointing the next MCE for Jasikan.
