Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is hopeful ahead of Ghana’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan on October 15. The team is set to play Sudan away in Libya as they aim for their first victory in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Black Stars have yet to secure a win, with two draws and one loss placing them third in Group F. Despite their position, Addo remains optimistic, highlighting the team’s final training session on October 14 as a positive indicator of their readiness.
“I was very satisfied with the training. The players adapted well, and they’re all eager to move past the last result,” Addo shared with GFA Media.
He acknowledged that converting scoring opportunities has been a challenge, but he is confident the team can overcome it. “We need goals, that’s clear. Against Angola, we created a lot of chances and deserved to win. We didn’t play as well against Niger, but again, we had the opportunities,” he said.
Addo believes that if the team replicates their recent performance, they have a strong chance of defeating Sudan. “When we play the way we did in the last game, we will win,” he stated firmly.
A win would propel Ghana above Sudan in the standings, keeping their hopes alive as they approach the final two matches of the qualifiers in November. Any other outcome could complicate their chances of advancing to the tournament in Morocco.
