The Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has announced that the government has invested nearly 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the road sector since January 2024. This significant investment aims to improve transportation infrastructure and promote economic growth.
In his Mid-Year Budget Review presentation to Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, the Finance Minister highlighted the following key points:
- Investment and Equipment: The government has acquired equipment to support local authorities in enhancing community roads across the country. “Mr. Speaker, we have invested almost 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the Road Sector since January 2024 to enhance transportation and spur growth. I can also confirm that the Government has secured equipment to complement the efforts of our local authorities in improving community roads nationwide,” he stated.
- Ongoing Road Projects: Several road projects are steadily making progress, including:
- Ofankor-Nsawam Road
- Keta Water Supply
- Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges
- The three (3) by-passes on the Kumasi-Accra Highway
- Tema Mpakadan Railway Line
- Airport Projects: The government has completed two major airport projects:
- Prempeh II International Airport in Kumasi
- Yakubu Tali International Airport in Tamale
- Hospital Projects: The government continues to make progress on the Agenda 111 Hospitals, with the Afari Hospital in Kumasi and many other hospitals across the country at various stages of completion.
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, aiming to enhance transportation, healthcare, and overall growth in Ghana.
