Exercise your right to discuss political issues, Napo urges traditional leaders

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, has called upon traditional leaders to actively participate in Ghana’s political landscape. He emphasized the crucial role chiefs play in national development and the importance of their voices being heard on political matters.

During a meeting with the Nungua Traditional Council in Accra, NAPO urged residents to support the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December elections. He stressed that traditional rulers, as agents of development, have the right to speak on national issues.

NAPO highlighted that chiefs were instrumental in the country’s fight for independence and should not be barred from expressing their opinions on political issues. He emphasized the value of involving traditional leaders in political discourse to ensure their perspectives contribute to national progress.

“My campaign is different. I visit every royal house to tell them one thing: help us, pray for us, guide us, counsel us, and give us direction. The Ghana we’re developing is a Ghana that will be developed in freedom,” he said.

He continued, “I implore every traditional leader and elder to engage in politics. Politicians have told you not to do politics, but if we didn’t engage in politics, how did we achieve independence? I’m not saying wear NPP or NDC colors. I’m saying that whether it’s NPP or NDC, it’s your right to tell us what is right. It is not our right to tell you not to be part of us; it is your right to engage. The people of Nungua should cherish and develop Nungua, as everything God placed in Nungua was meant for its development.”

NAPO’s remarks underscore the significance of traditional leaders’ involvement in shaping the nation’s political and developmental landscape.
